Hi! I’m Tom, an attorney with a background in game design. As an attorney I’ve argued before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, built up significant experience in post-conviction litigation, and fought for clients in state and federal courts. As a game designer I’ve written for AEG’s Legend of the Five Rings roleplaying game line and have playtested games ranging from the Shadowfist CCG to Hey, Waiter!
I started this blog because I love thinking about game design (and, as you might expect of a lawyer, I like talking about it too). I hope you’ll join in the conversation; game design is a fascinating topic and new perspectives are very valuable.
If you’d like to get in touch with me about games, game design, world building, and similar, I can be reached at law_of_game_design (just delete the underscores, no spaces between the words) at (a popular email service operated by Google). If you’re looking for a lawyer I’m afraid I’m not taking clients at this time, but if you contact your local bar association I’m sure they’ll be able to put you in touch with someone. (For more on that, please see the disclaimer.)
Thanks for stopping by. Stick around for a while; like a good hobby game store, this place is a little eclectic and very niche but welcoming and always glad to see you. 🙂
