Hi! I’m Tom, a lawyer-turned-game designer. I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Game Design from the NYU Game Center. (I also hold a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School–but that was in a different life.) Games I’ve worked on have been in IndieCade, and have twice won awards at one of the world’s largest Global Game Jam sites.
As a creator I use games to highlight and study interactions in life outside of play. To that end I’ve worked on games about building healthy relationships, cross-examining witnesses, and even re-gifting. I also enjoy studying design as both a formal exercise and as a part of broader culture. Articles on my blog take up questions on those topics.
If you’d like to get in touch with me about games, game design, and similar, I can be reached at tom@lawofgamedesign.com. If you’re looking for a lawyer I’m afraid I’m not taking clients at this time, but if you contact your local bar association I’m sure they’ll be able to put you in touch with someone. (For more on that, please see the disclaimer.)
Thanks for stopping by. Stick around for a while; like a good hobby game store, this place is a little eclectic and very niche, but welcoming and always glad to see you.
